Roundup of June 2023 Bootstrapper Events
We offer online events for bootstrappers including Bootstrappers Breakfast and Lean Culture. There are also in-person Bootstrapper Breakfast meetings in Ft. Worth, Las Vegas, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley. These events are for “entrepreneurs who eat problems for breakfast.”®
We have ten events this month to help you move your business forward. Join us as your interests dictate and schedule permits.
We are looking for entrepreneurs to share lessons learned: If you have reached a milestone in your entrepreneurial journey and would like to share lessons learned, please contact Theresa Shafer (tshafer@skmurphy.com) to explore scheduling a short briefing at a Bootstrapper Breakfast or a talk at a Lean Culture event. You must have attended a Bootstrapper Breakfast or Lean Culture event to be considered.

Mini workshop: How to quantify if a market is ripe for your product

Both investors and founders consider timing to be one of the most important factors in startup success, but how do you approach timing? How does “good” timing work? What can we learn from past good and bad examples? What forward-looking approach can we take to benefit our own work? This is what Paul Orlando has been working to understand. In this talk, he will share:
- Drivers of good/bad timing and how they work,
- His “Why Now” Session process and how he makes timing maps,
- Relevant case studies,
- Next steps for the development of this research.
As a live mini workshop, Paul will welcome volunteers to talk through their products and how they may have a timing advantage.
Paul Orlando has built four startup accelerators and is a former startup founder. He also teaches at the University of Southern California’s entrepreneurship center and has run “Why Now” workshops at multiple startup accelerators, individual startups, and universities.
